If the fixed side of the sliding glass door is held up by a metal strip that attaches to the door jamb remove it. You may like my other videos. One of the first things to do is to remove the actual sliding panels themselves to get rid of the weight and make it easier to do the job. Then use your screwdriver to unscrew the head stop located at the top of the door frame.

On most sliding doors there is a track that the door fits into and it rides backwards and forwards on this track. Removing a fixed sliding glass door panel is primarily done for one of two reasons. A second common reason for removing the panel is to replace the entire sliding glass door unit. Sliding patio doors have two separate units namely the sliding door panel and the stationary panel.

In order to remove the sliding one effectively lift it upwards into the upper track and ask a helper to push the bottom gently and carefully toward you. Next carefully lift the door up at a slight angle to remove the bottom rollers from the track.

To remove a sliding screen door find the screws at the bottom corners and unscrew them with a screwdriver. Once this is complete repeat the process with the inside closet door. Step 2 lift the sliding door panel out. Removing a sliding glass door may seem like a daunting task but once you ve learned the basic process it might be easier than you initially thought.
