White wall putty can fill imperfections and provide a smooth level surface for painting. Gently scrape the poster putty with a putty knife to remove any of the left over putty that comes off easily. Use a light coloured adhesive on light coloured walls as a darker putty may stain the paint.

Slowly pick at one corner of the putty to lift what you can from the wall. You can even use plumber s putty for a stainless steel sink. Gloss paint metal wood and plastic are generally fine. When installing a drain or garbage disposal you can use plumber s putty for cast iron porcelain and plastic sinks.

Whether you use acrylic cement or mineral based wall putty it can dry. Roll the poster putty you just removed into a ball and try using that to remove any of the stubborn putty pieces that are still on the wall.
