At the same time use your hand to push the panel onto the upper locking edge of the panel beneath it. Be careful because older siding can become brittle. Protect sound siding with a scrap piece of 1 4 in. Measure and mark a point 2 inches 5 1 cm away from each side of the removed segment.

Pop the bottom lip of the original loose piece of siding back over top the piece of siding below it with the hook tool. These tools are inexpensive and can be used to fix loose vinyl siding or to remove siding panels completely. Cut off any overhanging vinyl. First remove the corner piece then slide the zip tool under the siding and loosen it up.

To repair you will need a siding removal tool that you can find at most home centers for about 5. The hook on the tool grabs the locking edge at the bottom of each panel. Pull siding away from house and cut through the bottom edge with aviation snips. After you remove the rotted courses use a small hacksaw to cut any protruding nail shanks or if you have a very strong grip use a good pair of wire cutters.

Purchase a siding removal tool. It ll better match the house than brand new siding. Cut piece of faded siding from an inconspicuous spot to replace the damaged section. Use it to grab the locking edge of the loose panel and pull downward.

These hooks can be found in most home improvement or hardware stores. Cut the spare piece of vinyl along the marks using straight tin snips. Use framing square and utility knife to cut through face of siding.
